The tourist attractions of the Trebon Region

The Trebon Region (Třeboňsko) is famous for its unique network of fishponds and canals. Most of the 460 fishponds in the area were built in the 16th century. With its milieu of ancient waterworks, the soulful calls of water birds, the healing peat bogs, peaceful pine forests and traditional village architecture, the Trebon Region is among the foremost jewels of South Bohemia.

A holiday in the Trebon Region

The Trebon Region – a landscape of ponds and forests – offers plenty of opportunities for sightseeing, sports, cycling and fishing. The natural centre of the area is the medieval town of Trebon with its many historical attractions. The best way to explore the unspoiled countryside of Trebonsko is by bike. Aside from an excellent network of cycle paths, there are a lot of educational walking trails as well. You may also try angling on centain ponds selected for sport fishing.

  1. Does St Giles church in Trebon have a cemetery? If so, were people who died in the late 1700's to mid 1800's buried there or were they buried in St. Jilji church cemetery near Trebon?

Likewise, where state records show couples married in St. Jilji church or in Trebon, were they married in St. Jilji or St. Giles?

    Thank you
